LEAVING IOWA

Three Roles available: (Two men, one woman)

  • Dad – age 45-60
  • Mom – age 45–60
  • Multiple character guy – assumes the following characters (in order of appearance):

Farmer Johnson
Grandpa
Cart guy (grocery store employee)
Uncle Phil
Joe Hofingers (farmer)
Amish Guy
Civil War Guy
Jack Singer (professor)
Mechanic
Park Ranger
Clerk
Wayne (stoic waiter)
Bob (hog farmer)

The play takes place in Iowa and in other locations around the Midwestern United States. The time shifts from the present day (90s, 00s) to the late 60s/early 70s.

Roles are open to non-AEA actors.

All roles are paid a weekly salary for rehearsals & performances. Travel allowance also paid. Housing is provided in Plainview during Tech. Week & Performance period.

September 18th – October 18th, 2009

Performances (22 in 5 weeks):
Fri 09/18 & Sat 09/19 at 8PM; Sun 09/20 at 2PM
Thurs 09/24 at 7:30PM; Fri 09/25 & Sat 09/26 at 8PM; Sun 09/27 at 2PM
Thurs 10/01 at 1:30PM & 7:30PM; Fri 10/02 & Sat 10/03 at 8PM; Sun 10/04 at 2PM
Thurs 10/08 at 1:30PM & 7:30PM; Fri 10/09 & Sat 10/10 at 8PM; Sun 10/11 at 2PM
Thurs 10/15 at 1:30PM & 7:30PM; Fri 10/16 & Sat 10/17 at 8PM; Sun 10/18 at 2PM

Rehearsals in Twin Cities beginning late August/early September. Tech. week & all performances in Plainview, MN.

Audition Dates:
Sunday, April 5th, from 6:00PM – 10:00PM
Monday, April 6th, from 7:30PM – 10:00PM

Audition Location:

Grace Trinity Community Church, 28th & Hennepin, Minneapolis
