Jack Carter (Minstrel) has been making music
in one way or another for at least forty-five years, starting out on the accordion
because the coolest thing to do was to watch the Lawrence Welk Show every weekend.
After that musical beginning there was only one way to go and that was up. Drums,
trumpet, trombone and various other instruments entered the picture along the way
creating a musical (pardon the pun) "Jack-of-all-Trades" who has made his
meager living doing what he wants to do - playing music in just about every
conceivable manner -- from trumpet for Grand Hotel to organ with The Drifters --
from accordion marching bands to french horn in the pit for Troupe America's A
Christmas Carol five years in a row. Diversity makes his world go 'round. Now,
years later after being in at the start of the Lyric Theater, Jack is finally
getting his chance to actually be "in" a stage production. Once again,
for him it looks like there's only one way to go. |

JP Fitzgibbons (Young Man) resides in
Minneapolis where he has been very active in theater and music throughout the
Twin Cities Metro area. Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, Minneapolis Children's Theatre,
North Star Opera, Minnesota Opera, and now the Jon Hassler Theater are among the
many performing companies with whom he has worked. When not on stage, he sometimes
works behind the scenes, choreographing and music directing shows as well as
developing and implementing theater arts programs for children and young adults. |

Kristen C. Mathisen (Her) last performed
in Plainview in Old Man Brunner Country in 1999 when the theater was an empty
shell with hay bales on wagons for seating. Congratulations on the progress of the
writers' center and theater! Kristen has served on the board and several committees
at Theater in the Round and has performed at several other Twin Cities based theaters.
For the Lyric Theater, she performed in Simon's Night, Payments Due and
The Octet Bridge Club. |

Larry Roupe (Old Man Brunner) has been
associated with the Lyric Theater and Jon Hassler since 1991 when he played Simon
Peter Shea in Simon's Night. He repeated that role in 1992 and then went on to other
Hassler roles Michael McMahon in Grand Opening in 1996, Myron
Kleinschmidt in Dear James and Dusty in The Staggerford Murders, a
role it is rumored (mainly by Larry) Jon wrote for him. Also for the Lyric, he has
played George Bernard Shaw, Herbert Hoover, and Old Man Brunner
and has directed Payments Due. For Troupe America he has toured nationally in
1940's Radio Hour, On Golden Pond and Moon Over Buffalo . Larry
feels very much at home in Plainview. During the day, Larry is the in-house sub and
artist-in-residence at Benilde-St. Margaret's in St. Louis Park, MN. |

Sally Childs (Director/Barbara Shea) was a
founder and served as Artistic/Managing Director of the Lyric Theatre and last summer

and staging Bill Holm's Boxelder Bug Variations as a dance/poetry piece in
1987, the Lyric continued staging the work of Minnesota writers, including Carol
Connolly, Paul Mohrbacher, Leo Dangel, and Jon Hassler -- over and over. Childs
directed the Lyric's first staging of Simon's Night in 1991, produced Grand
Opening in 1996 and adapted, directed and produced Dear James in 1997 and
1998. The Lyric is delighted to become The Jon Hassler Theater, an affiliate of the
Rural America Arts Partnership in Plainview home at last.

Lyric Theatre in 1991 with the first Hassler production, Simon's Night and

involved in many high school productions such as Alibis, Miracle on 34th
Street, and Annie. He is currently employed by Lyons Oil Mini Mart and

and energy surrounding the opening of a new theatre which is unparalleled. The
support from members of the Plainview community continues to make this a delightful
and energizing experience."
